Alyssa Lim founded Inner Peace Spa Consultancy and Academy in 2016, with a mission to raise Malaysia to recognition in the international map of the wellness and spa industry. In her 17 years of experience and ventures in the wellness and spa industry, Alyssa has consulted and managed multiple renowned spas in Malaysia and China, such as Spring Spa in Guangzhou and CHI, The Spa at Shangri- La’s Tanjung Aru and Spa in Sabah. Her expertise has successfully builded the brands of these establishments and assisted them in achieving their business goals. Having gained many deep insights in the industry, her motivations behind building Inner Peace Spa Consultancy and Academy is highly driven by removing the stigma of careers pursued in the spa industry. She says, “As we head into the future, wellness and health are becoming more and more essential in everyone’s lives. It’s important that we remove the lenses of ignorance surrounding it and take the initiatives to develop the fundamentals that improve the longevity and vitality of the people.” She hopes to raise the standards of the spa industry in Malaysia by producing not just spa therapists, but industry leaders of tomorrow. “But first, we must remove the stigma in the idea of pursuing a career in wellness and health,” the founder and director of Inner Peace declares. A problem that persists within many communities, has hindered the perception of noble careers and establishments in wellness and health with negative misconceptions that must be corrected. Therefore, with specifically designed programs for Malaysian youths, and consultancy services for spa establishments, Alyssa Lim aims to correct the course and empower through meaningful education.
Our History
Alyssa Lim, her mother Yoing Seet Mooi and Scarlet Soh launched Inner Peace on 8th July 2002 in Ipoh, Perak. Operating at Syuen Hotel, Ipoh, Inner Peace was the state’s first women’s spa. This was Alyssa’s first business venture in the spa and wellness industry. In 2006, Inner Peace merged with Sense Spa and became Inner Peace Sense Spa. When Alyssa moved to Sabah in 2008, the company was taken over by an investor. Almost a decade later, Inner Peace came back into the picture when ventured into spa consultancy in 2016. The new Inner Peace (Spa Consultancy) focused on talent management and becoming a sub distributor for Biossentials for East Malaysia. After a year into the consultancy business, Inner Peace Spa Consultancy later formed a wellness academy. Presently, Inner Peace Academy has become one of the largest education provider in the wellness and spa industry in Sabah. The academy mainly focuses on empowering youths by developing their careers in wellness and health. Programs were designed to introduce wellness with the specialty of Bornean cultures embodied into its concepts and techniques, which Inner Peace Spa Academy becomes the advocate for the Malaysian Signature Massage called Urutan Malaysia. In the future, the academy hopes to raise the standards of the wellness and spa industry in Malaysia, and making it both locally and internationally renowned for its unique indigenous cultural elements. In their continuous efforts to place Malaysia on the wellness map, they strive through every initiative made by remembering the motto, “Together, We Empower.”
The Meaning Behind Our Logo
The term ‘Inner Peace’ refers to peace of mind, body and soul, indicating a harmonious relationship with each other. ·A grown tree represents the strength of an individual which we hope with the help from the spa and wellness industry players we can nurture our talents. Together, we can build their confidence. The tree is blessed with the fruits of abundance, knowledge and wisdom. Shedding of leaves on the left means letting go which is essential to achieve inner peace and transition to welcome a new adventure and the growth that comes with it which is symbolised with the budding leaves on the right side of the logo. The light blue shade in the background represents freedom, imagination and inspiration and the darker shade represents faith and confidence.
Sustainable Development Goals
As we progress into the future, we commit ourselves to being part of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. We are targeting 2 out of the 17 interlinked goals that are designed to be the “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. The first goal targeted is the 3rd goal which is “good health and well-being” through promoting initiatives that accelerate progress in many health areas continuously. As part of our programs and events, we raise awareness on health and wellness being essential parts of our livelihoods and wellbeing. We strive to ripple this message to every community we reach out to. Secondly, we are targeting the 8th goal, namely “decent work and economic growth”. Our efforts include partnering with spa establishments, providing expertise to support their business development and guaranteeing employment for our graduates with partnering spas.
